Royal Navy patrol ship HMS Tyne is dwarfed by the cruiser ship Azura on the River Tyne.
The patrol vessel passed the laid-up P&O liner as she left Northumberland.

TWO RIVER CLASS TO BE STATIONED IN THE F.E.S.

At the recent UK Maritime Power Conference the First Sea Lord said:
“Let me also mention our very capable Batch 2 Offshore Patrols vessels: the greenest warships in the Fleet. Already HMS MEDWAY is based in the Caribbean, HMS FORTH is in the South Atlantic, HMS TRENT is in Gibraltar and about to have the new ships of the Gibraltar Squadron. Soon the final two, HMS TAMAR and HMS SPEY will head west-about into the Indo-Pacific and join up with the Carrier Strike Group the long way round. TAMAR and SPEY will stay in the Indo-Pacific and be joined by Type-31 frigates in the future.”

It is expected that they will meet up with CSG21 in the South China Sea.
It is not known where they will be based yet but the addition of the T31 Inspiration class frigates will further boost the UK’s naval presence and diplomatic signalling of intent in the region.

The photo is of Spey being repainted in 'razzle dazzle.'

HMS Spey welcomes families aboard before ship sails on epic Pacific mission

Families of the 46 men and women who will take HMS Spey on the adventure of a lifetime got to see the ship for the first – and possibly last time.
The patrol ship is about to head to the Indo-Pacific region in company with her older sister HMS Tamar – a mission which will take the pair away from the UK for perhaps five years or more.
