"Iron Maiden" deputises for "Merlin"


I expect this piece of equipment is put to good use on the flight decks of Type 23's; Type 45's; RFA's et al - so it is perhaps best that it has a thread of it's own. Read the following on twitter today:-

This is called an Iron Maiden (who knew?), filled with water it weighs the same as a Merlin Mk2. It’s purpose is to replicate a helo to test the Helicopter Handling System (PRISM). It also makes a good flightdeck swimming pool.
