Yorktown Class Carrier USS Hornet pictured fitting out at Newport News Dry Dock & Shipbuilding Company Shipyards on September 17th 1941..She was sunk with the loss of 140 of her crew in the Battle of the Santa Cruz Islands on October 27th 1942

USS Yorktown pictured fitting out at Newport News Shipbuilding & Drydock Company Shipyards on April 1st 1936..She would be sunk by Submarine I-168 on June 7th 1942 with the loss of 141 of her crew.
