One of the strange things of Vanguard was that most broadside messes were behind the 11" armoured belt & therefore had no port holes. The bathrooms were also situated behind the belt so waste water was collected in a sump & ventura tube used to empty it.

Searched and there does NOT seem to be a thread about the RN's last BB! Maybe my eyes are watering to much from being out in the cold doing yard work???

At any rate, let's have some photos of the elegant, last RN battleship using the old WW 1 era 15" 42... :D She did have handsome lines and from all I've read the RN never put a better heavy gun afloat. DFO

The armoured belt was secured with huge bolts, in the mess deck I was in the bolt heads adorned the outboard mess bulkhead.

Great photo, looks like the fleet review at Spithead with the Isle of Wight ferry rear right

Jim , a very blurred memory recall suggests it was during a world tour when a Merchant Cargo Passenger ship [sorry , can't remember it's name} was acting Royal Yacht whilst we awaited the completion of the "Britannia"
