Crew of a Royal Navy patrol ship helped inhabitants of a remote Pacific island restore regular water supplies in the wake of two devastating tropical cyclones.

HMS Spey delivered three ten-tonne water tanks – among other aid and equipment – to the people of Tanna, one 80 islands in the Republic of Vanuatu which was battered by storms Judy and Kevin

Incidentally, tribes in the south of the island worshipped the Duke of Edinburgh and, since his death, Prince/King Charles as a god.

HMS Mersey and Royal Marines musicians are in Liverpool today for Eurovision – and to underscore Britain’s support for Ukraine.

The patrol ship arrived on the Mersey yesterday, one strand of the UK military’s support for – and involvement in – the massive musical festival.
Armed Forces personnel are helping to ensure the safe and smooth running of the event – 50 personnel are working side-by-side with Merseyside Police.
HMS Mersey is just a stone’s throw from the ‘Eurovision village’ with sailors taking part in events ashore and onboard.

The Government is investing £320m to support the Royal Navy’s busiest warships, the offshore patrol vessel flotilla.

Two separate contracts have been signed by the MOD; one for the first generation of ships (Batch 1): HMS Tyne, Severn and Mersey to support the trio through to the end of their active lives in 2028.
