Given the damage sustained by USN Aegis "cruiser" PORT ROYAL by a "soft" grounding..........will this almost new ffg be worth repair?? DFO

A year after the #sinking of the #Norwegian #frigate #HELGEINGSTAD F313 an impressively comprehensive report & nearly 8-minute examination of the incident has been released. While the conclusions are not unexpected the sequence of failures is incredible https://www.aibn.no/Marine/Published-re ... 019-08-eng …

Note; there are several links contained within the AIBN link to various forms of the Report - Summary etc.

Yes and no. Apparently, 1 of the 4 ships of the class has been in "maintained upkeep" for some years, due to a lack of crew.designeraccd wrote: ↑Tue Nov 12, 2019 4:08 pm and, no surprise, the FFG is a 98% write-off. Puts a bit of a HUGE hole in the little Norwegian Navy........ DFO
That ship has now been reactivated, and manned with the crew from the sunken ship (hopefully with some more-competent officers).
So while the Norwegian Navy has lost its "extra" FFG, there remain 3 ones on active duty... just like before.

Yep; hopefully theirs; ours; and other visiting foreign naval ships attendance for Sea Training with FOST (Flag Officer Sea Training) in Plymouth/Devonport, will all benefit from any revised procedures, that hopefully have been introduced, following recent experiences.Blackbat242 wrote: ↑Wed Nov 13, 2019 7:16 amYes and no.
