As most of you will know , the RCN has disposed of all of its combat ships and support ships from the 1950-1980 era. Attached is a picture of the final bit of the former HMCS Preserver, AOR 510. She was scrapped in Sydney, Nova Scotia with the work virtually completed in December 2018.

Continuing with the end of RCN support ships-here is a photo of the stern of the former HMCS Cape Breton, ARE 100, which is now apparently part of a maritime museum in Vancouver, British Columbia. She was built in Vancouver as a maintenance ship as part of the RN wartime program. Together with sister ship HMCS Cape Scott, she provided escort maintenance services to the Canadian fleet. She was on the West Coast while Cape Scott, ARE101, served the East Coast Fleet.

The remainder of the former HMCS Cape Breton was sunk as a diving wreck in British Colombia waters. She went down with a blast!

Brian: Thanks for posting this picture. I had not seen it before. For the record, these ships were Canadian built "River" Class frigates that were rebuilt in the 1950's to become "Prestonian" Class ships. After trials the helicopter deck was removed and the concept was moved to the St. Laurent and Annapolis destroyer escorts.
