Obtaining Copies of Records

Unread post by jbryce1437 »

Comprehensive information about how and where to obtain copies of Royal Navy Service Records can be found on the Royal Navy Research Archive site here:
http://www.royalnavyresearcharchive.org ... s_page.htm

For anyone researching their family tree, records for ratings who served before 1924 are held by the National Archives and copies can be ordered online. Some information about them, including a free search facility, and the procedure for obtaining them can be found here:
http://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/help ... 1853-1928/

If you are having trouble tracking down a record, or if you obtain a copy of a Service Record and you are not sure how to interpret the contents, you are welcome to ask here, or start a thread and attach a copy of a record and we will endeavour to explain its contents to you.
