Royal Navy
The Royal British Legion’s Poppy Appeal launches today.
Wearing your poppy is a way to pay your respects to the Armed Forces for the sacrifices they made to protect our freedom.
Wear your poppy, show you care.

Royal Navy helps launch Hampshire and Isle of Wight Poppy Appeal
Royal Navy sailors helped to launch this year’s Royal British Legion’s (RBL) Poppy Appeal at Portsmouth Historic Dockyard, delivering the first poppies by landing craft.
For the first time since 2020, the RBL launched their Hampshire and Isle of Wight Poppy Appeal in Portsmouth Historic Dockyard today. Representatives from across the Royal Navy, Royal Marines, Army and Royal Air Force came together alongside veterans, local dignitaries and the public to launch the appeal.
In a nod to their forebears 80 years on from D-Day, sailors, both regular and reserve, arrived by landing craft alongside HMS Warrior this afternoon to deliver the first of this year’s poppies.
Invited guests and the public were welcomed by the Royal Marines Band Service and treated to performances from trainees based at the Alford Schools of Military Music at His Majesty’s Naval Base Portsmouth.

Call to buy official RBL poppies and not help profiteers as Remembrance approaches
Remembrance Sunday allows people to honour the service and sacrifice of the Armed Forces community from the UK and the Commonwealth, but some traders are profiting from its symbol, the red poppy.
Poppies, pins and badges are available from the Royal British Legion, and buying and wearing one helps to fund the work of the RBL as well as signifying the act of remembrance.
However several online retailers are selling Remembrance-themed poppies that largely come from China and are nothing to do with the Royal British Legion.

Ministry of Defence
Visiting the poppy factory this week, Defence Secretary John Healey MP made a wreath with military veterans and volunteers for the Remembrance period.
Watch to see how the Factory has helped veterans during their resettlement into civilian life.

We’re making sure those who serve and have served our country have the support they need.
That’s why we’re committing £3.5 million for veterans’ homelessness support programmes.
Prime Minister to host veterans and families in Downing Street as the nation prepares to remember all those who fought for our freedom.
