German vessels to assist with Royal Navy training

The Royal Navy and the German Navy are set to intensify their longstanding training partnership, focusing on mutual preparation for global front-line naval operations.

Under the terms of the agreement, the German Navy will utilise the Royal Navy’s world-renowned FOST—a training effort based at Devonport Naval Base—to prepare its warships for operational readiness.

The coastline of the Balearic Archipelago served as an ideal training ground for the Spanish-led Mine Countermeasures (MCM) exercise ESP MINEX 24.
This annual Allied naval exercise, conducted by the Spanish Navy, focuses on MCM operations in mined coastal waters, ensuring freedom of navigation and action from the sea to the mainland while addressing asymmetric and hybrid threats.
