Sir Humphrey
A very significant Canadian Defence Policy paper here on Arctic security.
This is well worth reading to see how Canada sees its future defence needs - a lot to consider here!

Royal Canadian Navy
Across #Canada, ceremonies were held to commemorate the heroism of sailors and aviators who fought valiantly in the #BattleOfTheAtlantic.
We stood shoulder-to-shoulder, united in gratitude for their service and sacrifice.
Let us never forget their courage. 🇨🇦⚓

Good morning everyone,
Great photos, taken from the Angus L. Macdonald bridge.
They show aHalifax quite different from what it looks like today.
I first arrived as an officer cadet in Halifax in 1968.
It was for my third summer training in minesweepers.
Our sea trip was to Boston, Bermuda and the return to Halifax.

Good morning everyone,
Yesterday, RAdm Josee Kurtz and the Command CPO laid roses on the honour board of American POWs from the war of 1812.
They were held on Deadman’s Island (Melville Island) near the Armdale Yaught Club.

[William Gard]

Deadman's Island is a small peninsula containing a cemetery and park located in the Northwest Arm of Halifax Harbour in Nova Scotia, Canada.
The area was first used as training grounds for the British military, and later became a burial ground for dead prisoners of war from nearby Melville Island. In the early 1900s the site became an amusement park before being annexed to the city of Halifax in the 1960s.
Though development projects were considered for the site, these plans met with popular protest, and instead Deadman's Island became a heritage park, Deadman's Island Park.

The land was used by the British military during the Napoleonic Wars and War of 1812 for interring prisoners of war from a prison on nearby Melville Island.
Sixty-six French, nine Spanish, and 195 American soldiers and sailors died at the facility and were buried in canvas bags in unmarked graves, thus giving the island its name.
