Poland in NATO

Just passed the 25th anniversary of Poland (Czech Republic and Hungary joined the Pact on the same date) officially joining the NATO.
I have intended to propose a daily thanks prayers of all the Polish folks for thanking the Gods this absolutely important event .
Poland joined NATO well before joining the EU, the then leaders of the state were former "Working Party" more common known as "communists". They were strong driving force of negotiations together with the former politicians from democratic opposition i.e Walensa.
The atmosphere in the West countries was moderate positive or moderate negative for extending the NATO by the former WP members. Time was the factor because the window of opportunity to make such a move was limited - Russian President Yelcyn, agreed, Russian military components based in Poland gone and being hanged between NATO and Russia would inevitably caused pressure from the latter and get Poland on the Soviets lash again.

How it works - in all the aspects - being part of the Alliance is seen as in accordance with the latest pools that the Polish feel safe being together with other NATO countries. The 86% of the Polish has stated that they feel safe, astonishingly 90% women and 83% man .
If we consider that also some 66% of the Polish are for being part of EU that means that mentally the Polish belong to the West.
Poland buys more and more military hardware , the latest visit of the PL President and PM to the US have been occasion to sign a contract on purchasing 96 Apaches and advanced low range missiles.
Interesting for some might be that Polish officials say Polish armed forces have 24 months time for preparation to possible conflict with Russia and that it a rapid activity in purchasing military stuff and training.
The defense budget is 4% of the GNP and literally there is no opposition and discussion of "why" among the Polish folks that means all the political parties as well as a common Polish.
Unfortunately the situation inside NATO is getting sort of tense because of possible change of the present policy of the USofA. Case known, no comments.
