That pic was mislabeled, not 1940 but probably 1942 or even '43; given the camo on her by then!! :o All gray in 1942........ DFO

A deck view of ROMA firing her main guns, at least that was the label on this photo. Given the "fishbone" camo, one might wonder if it really is the ROMA? ... :)

Given this 1941 photo of LITTORIO one might think it is her instead. Also, note bridge and main director: these were slightly different in all 3 of the class. Rather looks identical to the "ROMA" firing photo!! DFO

Here is the VITTORIO VENETO after her torpedo hit that led to Matapan. She lost the use of both starboard props, took @ 4000 tons of water aboard but still managed to get up to 19 knots on the 2 port props while escaping back to Italy. :o DFO
