Exercise Cold Response & Subsequent Exercises

Unread post by Pelican »

HMS Prince of Wales is about to deploy to the furthest north either of the carriers have been so far. She is due to participate in the Cold Response exercise alongside other RN and allied units. PWLS is likely to embark units from Commando Helicopter Force (Merlin HC4 and Wildcat AH1) and Chinooks. The exercise will be the largest Arctic exercise since the start of the Cold War. RN units are likely to include HMS Albion, HMS Defender, HMS Northumberland and RFA Mounts Bay. Fellow allied units are likely to be Norwegian warships, SNMG1, HNLMS Rotterdam and HNLMS Karel Doorman amongst others. This exercise will be used to evaluate Rear Admiral Utley and his battle staff as the Commander of the NATO Response Force, before conducting further exercises and operations throughout the rest of 2022.
